Executive Branch

The Executive Branch of the Student Government Association is led by the President of the Student Body. The President is charged with representing all students of the University and acting as a liaison between them and the University Administration. The President of the Student Body serves as a member of the University’s Board of Trustees with all the rights and privileges of any other member.

Major: Political Science and Global Studies

Michael Tuso is a sophomore in Political Science and International and Global Studies. He enjoys exercising, but more specifically martial arts. Previous to his collegiate tenure, Michael taught karate for several years. In high school he participated in North Carolina DECA, an Association of Marketing students and served as a state officer. Michael is a graduate of Needham B. Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC where his family resides. He is originally from Brooklyn, NY and enjoys traveling there often. Previous to his term as President, Michael worked as a Freshman Senator and served on the Finance Committee of SGA. He is currently the youngest President at any University in the UNC system. Michael intends on studying abroad in South America where he will continue his working knowledge of Spanish and politics. His interests include political activism, service projects, exploring the outdoors, and of course, relaxing with family and friends. Michael intends on entering a career in politics.
