The Student Senate has four standing committees. The committees oversee various functions of Senate business.
The Senate meets every Tuesday that class is in session at 7:00pm. Meetings are held in the Elliott University Center.
The Senate currently has one ad-hoc committee. The Constitution Revision Committee was formed by an act of the Senate early during the Spring 2007 semester. The Committee is charged with overseeing the first works on revising the SGA Constitution, Bylaws and other governing documents. Committee membership includes Senator Corey Hearne (Chair), Senator Joanna Quick, Chairman Pro Tempore John Bryant and Speaker of the House Caitlin Stroud. The Advisors to the Committee are Attorney General Charles Bowen, Jr. and Senator Matt Comer. For more information, please contact Sen. Hearne at cehearne@uncg.edu.
“Ad-hoc” is a Latin phrase translated as for this [purpose] and is used to describe a committee “which is formed to deal with a particular issue, and disbanded after the issue is resolved” (src).
